What You Need To Know

Dental braces have been used in one form or another for centuries, usually with obtrusive methods. Luckily, orthodontics and braces have come a long way since then. Today, we can ‘invisibly’ restore a healthy smile and provide a self-confidence boost to both kids and adults!

Invisalign® braces are clear plastic trays custom-fit to be worn over teeth. Though they’re clear and appear invisible, Invisalign® braces differ from invisible braces, which are metal braces placed on the back of teeth. Instead, Invisalign® trays are made from comfortable, BPA-free plastic, which gently moves with the teeth, aligning them as needed.

To ensure the perfect fit, Studio32 Orthodontics uses state-of-the-art iTero Element® Intraoral Scanner 3D imaging specifically made for Invisalign® braces to create each tray.

Invisalign® Braces For Adults

A healthy and dazzling smile isn’t out of reach for adults who have dental issues such as overbites and widely spaced teeth. In fact, we work with adults every day to help them achieve their desired smile! Invisalign® braces treat and correct a majority of dental problems for adults, all while being invisible to others at work and in social settings. Another bonus is that you’ll spend less time at our office because Invisalign® braces require fewer visits.

Invisalign® Braces For Kids

Unlike with the limitations of metal braces, Invisalign® braces allow kids to eat their favorite foods! They can remove the aligners to brush and floss like normal, allowing them to develop good, lifelong dental hygiene habits during the treatment period. Considering how active kids are, there’s also no risk of injury from broken wires or brackets when they use alignment trays instead of metal braces.

How To Care For Invisalign® Braces

For best results, the aligners need to be worn 20 to 22 hours each day. Invisalign® braces can be easier to care for than metal braces. However, there are still important maintenance instructions that need to be followed. Check out our Invisalign® FAQ page for more information.

  • Rinse Frequently. Rinse the Invisalign® aligners thoroughly under running water whenever they have been removed for eating, drinking, or even just for a moment. Doing so will eliminate bacteria, saliva, and food particles that can cause irritation if left inside the aligner.
  • Change Trays On Schedule. Your orthodontist will set a schedule to change out the trays, usually in 10- to 14-day increments. Follow-up visits for adjustments to the tray alignments or anything else related to the trays typically occur every 8 to 12 weeks.
  • Remove Trays When Eating & Drinking. The only food or drink that you can consume while wearing Invisalign® braces is water. Food and any colored drink, such as coffee or tea, can stain the trays and cause a lingering smell, which causes them to no longer be ‘invisible.’
  • Brush & Clean Regularly. It’s important to continue to brush and floss your teeth twice a day when using Invisalign® braces. Proper dental hygiene will limit bacteria and plaque buildup on both your teeth and the aligner. Thankfully, cleaning your teeth is much simpler than with metal braces.
